Thomas Farm Fall 2009 Fossil Dig

Fossil Dig Volunteer fossil-diggers wanted! Volunteers must be at least 15 years of age, maintain a moderate level of physical fitness and be able to work outdoors for a minimum of three hours. Experience is not necessary. All volunteers will receive training and will work with museum staff and UF graduate students. Digging will take place four days a week Oct. 24 through Nov. 24. Donation of Butterfly Collection Will Boost Biodiversity Research

donated butterflies A gift of more than 2 million butterfly and moth specimens to the Museum from Dr. William and Nadine McGuire contains hundreds and possibly more than 1,000 new unnamed species, and will help researchers better understand biodiversity and environmental changes. The gift brings the number of specimens in the Museum's collection to more than 9 million, one of the world's largest. Learn More...
