Preparation of Manuscript - Instructions for Authors
The Bulletin of the Florida Museum of Natural History was established
to provide an outlet for larger scientific manuscripts. It began in 1956 as the
Bulletin of the Florida State Museum, Biological Sciences Series. In 1990,
Volume 35, the title was changed to Bulletin of the Florida Museum of Natural
History, Biological Sciences Series, and in 1995, Volume 37, it became simply
Bulletin of the Florida Museum of Natural History.
The Bulletin of the Florida Museum of Natural History promotes the dissemination of research conducted by its faculty, staff, and immediate associates. Appropriate, fully funded manuscripts from external researchers will also be entertained. Priority will be given to specimen-based research in zoology, botany, paleontology, and archaeology. The geographic scope of the Bulletin is the circum-Caribbean region, including Florida and southeastern United States, but research from other areas will also be considered. The Bulletin of the Florida Museum of Natural History is published at irregular intervals. Volumes contain approximately 300 pages. The number of papers contained in each volume varies, depending upon the number of pages in each paper. Complete volumes of related papers have been published, and inquiries about putting together complete volumes are welcomed. To the present, 46 volumes have been published with the number of papers in each volume varying from 3 to 20.
Submitted papers should be of medium length, ca. 10,000-60,000 words. Authors should include the names of three suggested reviewers. The Bulletin receives manuscripts in confidence and protects the confidentiality of the content.

The Bulletin is distributed worldwide through institutional exchanges and standing orders. Fifty free copies are sent to the first author who may order additional reprints at cost.
