CTL Image Galleries Introduction
Many Florida pottery types are pictured in the following image galleries. The galleries do not provide an exhaustive inventory, as we do not have examples of every type that has been described in Florida's archaeological literature. There are 11 image galleries. The first presents photos of common plain wares and tempers. The rest of the galleries are distinguished more or less by geographic region and/or time period. The geographic region of greatest abundance and approximate time range for each type are presented in this excel spread sheet (18KB). These are offered as general guidelines and do not reflect the full temporal and spatial extent of each type. For example, St. Johns series pottery is found at sites across much of Florida, from southern to northwestern regions, but it predominates at many sites in Northeast Florida near the St. Johns River.
