Many Florida pottery types are pictured in the following image galleries, demonstrating the long history and variety of pottery-making in Florida.

The galleries do not provide an exhaustive inventory, as we do not have examples of every type that has been described in Florida’s archaeological literature. There are 10 image galleries, organized by geographic region and/or time period. The geographic region of greatest abundance and approximate time range for each type are presented here. These are offered as general guidelines and do not reflect the full temporal and spatial extent of each type. For example, St. Johns series pottery is found at sites across much of Florida, from southern to northwestern regions, but it predominates at many sites in Northeast Florida near the St. Johns River. While the majority of the sherds shown here were recovered in Florida, some Gulf Coast types from Alabama sites are included also, as noted in the image descriptions.
