Hatchling alligator held in the palm of a hand. Although similar in appearance to its American cousin as a juvenile, differences become much more apparent as the animal grows, although it attains a much smaller adult size than the American alligator. Still highly threatened throughout its very limited range, its fate is still very much in our hands.
