![]() Juvenile brown caimans are very similar in appearance to juvenile spectacled caimans, but with a browner overall tinge. Even as adults, it can be difficult to distinguish between the two subspecies, which is a common general problem in trying to prevent illegally harvested skins from an endangered species being passed off legally as another subspecies or species.
