MAIN MENU

A subadult Tomistoma, around 3 feet in length. This animal was captured on the Merang River in Sumatra. Juvenile Tomistoma have a dark chocolate brown base colour with black marks on the jaws and stripes on the rest of the body and tail. The head shape is sleeker than the adults. At this size fish, crustaceans and insects likely form the staple diet of this species.
