My wife and I took a friend that was visiting from out of state, to the Silver Springs Attraction in central Florida. There are always plenty of alligators to see, but they also have a few exotic crocodilians. They are usually submerged or hiding somewhere in their enclosure. In the ten years I've been going there, I've never seen the Chinese alligator. I've also never seen any part of the Cuban crocodile except the top of it's head. It wasn't a very good day for visiting a zoo. It was raining. However, since it was the only day we could take our friend, we went anyway. We were pleasantly surprised. Apparently the crocodilians were enjoying the rain. Several were out in plain sight. This Cuban crocodile was walking when we first spotted it, but stopped when we approached, which allowed me to get a good profile shot. The overcast sky reduced the reflections on the glass I was shooting through. I plan on visiting Silver Springs on a rainy day again. I shot these photos with an Olympus C-2100 UZ digital camera. " Would you like to enter your best photograph into the 2002 competition? Send me a photograph and I'll include the best here each month.
