Alligator basking

October's Pic of the Month was taken by Charles Booher, who is fast becoming a regular here. While I'm not sure Leonardo Da Vinci quite had the alligator's enigmatic smile in mind when he painted his most famous work, there's something captivating about the curve of an alligator's jaws.

This photograph really don't need much exposition - just look at it for a while to appreciate it. It is also perhaps appropriate that we feature an American alligator in October to coincide with the Crocodile Specialist Group meeting taking place in Gainesville in Florida. Good luck everyone.
