Driving Directions and Parking Information
the 4th Deep Time Meeting
(February 22-23, 2003, Gainesville, Florida)

If you are planning to drive, the following are driving directions to the Reitz Union Hotel, the University Centre Hotel, and Rush Lake motel. Click on the following links to download schematic maps for Gainesville City and for the 4th Deep Time meeting locations.

Driving directions to the Reitz Union Hotel:

  1. From I-75, Exit #75 (SR 24/Archer Road): East on Archer Road for 2.6 miles to North-South Drive; turn left on North-South and drive for 1/2 mile to Museum Road; turn right on Museum Road for 1 block; turn left into the Reitz Union's loading zones.
  2. From US 441 (13th Street): Turn West on Museum Road for 1/2 mile. The Reitz Union is on the right, just past Center Drive.
  3. From the Gainesville Regional Airport Exit the airport drive; turn right onto SR 222 (39th Avenue) and travel west to US 441 (13th Street); turn left on US 441 to Museum Road; right on Museum Road for 1/2 mile; the Reitz Union is on the right just past Center Drive.

Driving directions to University Centre Hotel:

  1. From I-75, Exit #75 (SR 24/Archer Road): East on Archer Road for 3.0 miles to Newell Drive which is one block west to SW 13th Street (US441); University Centre Hotel is on the right (Southwest corner).
  2. From US 441 (13th Street): Turn west on Archer Road (SR 24) for one block; take the first left on Newell Drive.
  3. From the Gainesville Regional Airport Exit the airport drive; turn right onto SR 222 (39th Avenue) and drive west to US 441 (13th Street); left on US 441 for 1/2 mile to Archer Road (SR 24), turn west on Archer Road (SR 24) for one block; take the first left on Newell Drive. The University Centre Hotel is on the southwest corner of the intersection.

Driving directions to Rush Lake motel:

  1. From I-75, Exit #75 (SR 24/Archer Road): East on Archer Road for 3.0 miles to SW 13th Street (US441); Turn right on the 13th Street, then turn right on SW 16th Ave. (next signal). Rush Lake motel is one block on the right.
  2. From US 441 (13th Street): Turn west on SW 16th Ave. for one block; Rush Lake motel is one block on the right.
  3. From the Gainesville Regional Airport Exit the airport drive; turn right onto SR 222 (39th Avenue) and drive west to US 441 (13th Street); left on US 441 for 1/2 mile to SW 16th Ave.; Turn west on SW 16th Ave. for one block; Rush Lake motel is one block on the right.

Parking is extremely limited on campus during the average business days (Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.). A parking permit is required for all campus parking except for metered lots.

  1. If you've planned to stay in the Reitz Union Hotel, you'll receive a complimentary parking pass that is valid in the metered parking lot adjacent to the Reitz Union as well as the parking lot directly across Museum Road. Parking passes are distributed at check-in. Prior to check-in, you may temporarily park in the loading zones in the Reitz Union's circle drive.
  2. Visitor permits are also available from checkpoints throughout campus, from the Decal Office at Transportation and Parking Services located on North-South Drive, or from the University Police Department located at the corner of Museum Road and Newell Drive (The Florida Museum of Natural History in on the southwest corner). With visitor permits, meeting participants can park on level one in Parking Garage 4, which is located at the northeast corner of Museum Road and Newell Drive. The Florida Museum of Natural History is on the southwest corner with front entrance on the Museum Road.
  3. Parking restrictions are lifted on weekends (after 4:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon).
