Cruisin' the Fossil Freeway
Ammonites, trilobites, dinosaurs, oh my! The ground beneath our feet holds many
stories—and fossils tell us much about past life on Earth. Cruisin' the Fossil Freeway combines
science and art to explore the amazing world of fossils as seen through the eyes of paleontologist Kirk Johnson
and artist Ray Troll. Students use critical thinking skills to examine artwork of imagined scenes from prehistoric
times and real fossils such as a Triceratops and giant ammonite to explore questions about evolution,
extinction and ancient environments. Come cruise the fossil freeway with us!

Fossils - No Bones About it!
What can we learn about Florida's past from fossils? How did changing sea levels
affect the variety of fossils found today? Join Museum docents for hands-on classroom activities
with real fossils and a visit to the Florida Fossils: Evolution of
Life & Land exhibit. Students become paleontologists by learning how different
types of fossils are formed and piecing together a large animal skeleton. A visit to
the mammoth, mastodon and shark jaws complete this journey through Florida's fossil
history.
