Distinguishing Characteristics
1. Nasal barbels

2. Large eyes and spiracles less than 1.5 times eye diameter

3. Pectoral fins are broad and posteriorly angular

4. Spines present along back from head to the dorsal fins, between the fin bases, and on the snout and above the eyes
