Bluefin Tuna Limit Increased for the General Category
November 14, 2005

Release from:
NOAA

After examining catch and effort rates, and analyzing the available quota for the 2005 fishing year, NOAA Fisheries Service has adjusted management measures for the Atlantic bluefin tuna fishery. The General category daily bluefin retention limits for November 18, 19, 20, 24, 25, 26, and 27, 2005, have been increased to two large medium or giant bluefin per vessel. If catch rates continue to be low, additional restricted fishing days may be waived.

Fishermen may call the Atlantic Tunas Information Line at (888) 872-8862 or (978) 281-9260, or visit http://www.nmfspermits.com for updates on quota monitoring and retention limit adjustments.
