New Commercial Trip Limit Proposed for Grouper
November 28, 2005
Release from:
NOAA
This
proposed rule
would establish a 6,000-lb commercial trip limit for shallow-water
and deep-water grouper, combined, in the exclusive economic zone of
the Gulf of Mexico. Existing trip limits would be replaced by this
proposed action. The purpose of the proposed rule is to reduce the
adverse socioeconomic effects of derby fishing in the commercial
sector and prolong the fishing season, within limits established
by the red grouper rebuilding plan.
