NOAA to Prepare Recovery Plan for Central California Coast Coho Salmon; Public Input Requested
December 19, 2005

Release from:
NOAA

NOAA has announced its intent to prepare a recovery plan for the Central California Coast coho salmon. The recovery plan will include: (1) a description of management actions that may be necessary to achieve the plan's goals for the conservation and survival of the species; (2) objective, measurable criteria which, when met, would result in the species being removed from the endangered species list; and (3) estimates of time and costs required to achieve the plan's goal. NOAA will work closely with the California Department of Fish and Game to integrate, where appropriate, the recently developed and State-approved February 2004 Recovery Strategy for California Coho Salmon with the Federal Recovery Plan.

Interested members of the public are invited to submit any relevant information that should be considered during preparation of the draft recovery plan. All information must be received by April 14, 2006. Materials may be sent by e-mail to: CohoRecovery.swr@noaa.gov. (Please note that no files larger than 5MB can be accepted). Other options for submitting information are described in the notice.

Contact Charlotte Ambrose, North-Central California Coast Recovery Coordinator, at (707) 575-6068 or Charlotte.A.Ambrose@noaa.gov with any questions.
