Comments Requested on Inseason Actions for Fraser River Salmon Fishery
November 7, 2006
Release from:
NOAA
NOAA Fisheries publishes Fraser River salmon inseason orders to regulate salmon fisheries in U.S. waters. The orders were issued by the Fraser River Panel of the Pacific Salmon Commission and subsequently approved and issued during 2006 for the U.S. Fraser River Panel Area. These orders established fishing dates, times, and areas for the gear types of U.S. treaty Indian and all citizen fisheries. The U.S. portion of the Fraser River Panel Area is closed to U.S. sockeye and pink salmon fishing unless opened by Panel orders that are given effect by inseason regulations. These inseason actions are then announced to fishery participants over telephone hotlines. Specific inseason orders from the 2006 season are described in a Federal Register
notice.
Public comments on the 2006 inseason actions may be sent to Fraser2006salmon@noaa.gov through November 15, 2006.
