Public Invited to Comment on Documentation for Dolphin-SafeTuna
December 12, 2006
Release from:
NOAA
U.S. importers and processors are required to submit information to document the dolphin-safe status of tuna import shipments. This information is also used to verify that import shipments of fish were not harvested by large-scale high seas driftnets and that imported tuna was not harvested by an embargoed nation or one that is otherwise prohibited from exporting tuna to the United States. Public comments are invited on:
a) whether the proposed collection of information is necessary;
b) the accuracy of the agency's estimate of the burden (including hours and cost) of the proposed collection of information;
c) ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected; and
d) ways to minimize the burden of the collection of information on respondents, including through the use of automated collection techniques or other forms of information technology.
Comments may be sent to dHynek@doc.gov through February 5, 2007.
