Stone-age Fish Fossils Found In Sichuan Quarry
January 18, 2008

Release from: China Daily

Two ancient fish fossils were found recently in Pengxi county, Sichuan province.

The fossils were uncovered in a quarry, and archaeologists said they could have been formed some 150 million years ago, during the Mesozoic Jurassic period, when the dinosaurs lived. The fossils are complete, measuring 14 cm long and 4.5 cm wide. They include clearly visible fish scales and bones and chest, dorsal and tail fins.

The discovery is expected to shed much light on the region's geology and ancient biology.
