Sawfish Protection Public Comment Deadline Today

Today at 5 p.m. is the final deadline for public comments on a proposal to designate waters of the Charlotte Harbor National Estuary, including Lee County waters of Pine Island Sound, the Caloosahatchee River and Estero Bay, as critical habitat for the endangered smalltooth sawfish.

Designation as critical habitat under the Endangered Species Act would impact the permitting of activities such as the construction of docks and seawalls in those waters.
