MANIPAL: Forest department officials here have busted a racket in illegal production and trade of shark fish oil with the arrest of a six-member gang at Kundapur-Kodi in Udupi district, forest officials said on Friday.

The officials, attached to the wildlife wing, raided the unit run by the gang members and seized oil and shark fish valued at Rs 4 lakh.

The gang members hail from Kerala, the officials said.

The gang was selling the oil and shark fish to Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
