The Florida Museum took guests back to the 16th century at Passport to La Florida. In an effort to pay homage to our mission and represent the collections and research at the Museum La Florida proved to be a visual feast of Old World and New World splendor. Guests enjoyed native inspired food from Blue Water Bay, danced to tunes from Gosia & Ali and bid on a wide variety of items in the very successful silent auction.
We would like to thank the Florida Museum Associates Board for producing another fantastic evening and working hard to bring old Florida to the Museum. The artistry, the sounds and the food created an authentic atmosphere that all enjoyed. Their efforts helped the Museum raise over $45,000 to help support exhibits, public programs and research.
A special thank you again this year to Jim Brandenberg for building the wonderful chikee hut, and to Alan Shapiro for donating the trees and plants that transformed the front lobby into a mysterious Florida swamp.
