Junior Volunteer Program

Junior Volunteer with discovery cartTweens and teens ages 12 to 17 work alongside Museum staff throughout the summer, sharing programs and exhibits with visitors and public program participants. A variety of positions are available, including discovery cart attendant, Discovery Room assistant, camp teacher's assistant, puppeteers and more. It’s easy to make new friends who love the Museum just like you. This is also a great opportunity to learn about the “behind-the-scenes’ work required to present programs and events. All junior volunteers are trained and supervised.

How to Apply

The Junior Volunteer Program runs on an annual calendar beginning in March when 12- to 17-year-olds apply to volunteer for the coming summer.

The application period for the 2013 program is now closed.

If selected to participate in the Junior Volunteer Program, a registration fee of $25 members/$30 non-members is due before the June 2 training. This fee helps cover some of the program costs. Scholarships are available.

All new applicants will be interviewed in April. All Junior Volunteers will be expected to attend a mandatory training in June. The program is popular, so applicants are encouraged to note all deadlines and requirements to ensure consideration of your application. Preference will be given to veteran volunteers invited to return and new applicants with the strongest interviews, experience and availability. Please read the cover letter and application carefully for requirements and schedule information.
