What is described in the family presentations?
These presentations precede the illustrations of the species of a given family in the blue and yellow sections.
They provide the number of species regulated by CITES in each Appendix. Once again, it should be noted
that all species of crocodilians are protected by CITES and thus require one or two CITES permits. Also
displayed are pictograms of the principal derivatives and products made from these species.

All numerical data are taken from the CITES Control List that came into effect in 1994. The data may have been modified at the biennial conferences of the parties to CITES and, in subsequent years, should be treated as approximate.

Please note that the abbreviation "Spp." designates several species, "Sp." a single species and "Ssp." a subspecies.
