How to use this guide

I have to identify a crocodilian that is not accompanied by a CITES permit: what do I do?
Because all crocodilians are protected by CITES, live specimens as well as parts and derivatives must be accompanied by at least one CITES permit. If not, you only need to detain the specimens without necessarily having to identify them. If however you wish to identify them, follow the procedure described below.
