The Sam Noble Museum invites families to join invertebrate paleontology curator Dr. Steve Westrop for an exciting journey into Oklahoma’s Paleozoic past. Explore life in Oklahoma’s ancient oceans on Friday evening with a close-up look at some of the museum’s finest invertebrate specimens. On Saturday morning, we will depart from the museum at 9 a.m. and travel in university vans to the site where you will find a variety of marine fossils that you can take home. Bring a sack…

The Aurora Fossil Museum in Aurora, NC will be holding their annual Fossil Festival over Memorial Day weekend.  FOSSIL’s Bruce MacFadden will be there to speak about the FOSSIL project. There will also be live bands, scientists on hand to identify fossils, rock and mineral, and the opportunity to collect your own fossils for free! This will be a great event, so if you’re looking for a fun-filled Memorial Day vacation, head over to Aurora, NC!

National Fossil Day

This year marks the 5th annual National Fossil Day that is celebrated in our National Parks, local museums, libraries, and schools. National Fossil Day “promotes public awareness and stewardship of fossils.” It also contributes to a greater understanding of the natural world.
