The citations contained in this 'Indexed Bibliography of the Herpetofauna of Florida' are listed alphabetically by author (s) and are in the style of the 'Journal of Wildlife Management.' The most complete name of an author usually is given in each citation, even though it may not appear in that form in the actual reference.

The alphabetical citations presented here are numbered. The 'Index of Scientific Names and Topics' uses the numbers to indicate which citations include reference to particular species and topics.

The primary list of 2,573 alphabetized citations current through July 1990 are sequentially numbered 1—2,573. Correctly alphabetized and scattered through that primary list are 247 additional citations current through January 1992 and bearing the secondary sequence of numbers, 2,573—2,820. Eventually, the citations will be available in an online searchable database. However, while the database is under construction, particular numbered citations can be located quickly by visually scanning down the appropriate list. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience.
