Indricotherium, the "Beast of Baluchistan," was the largest known land mammal. It resided in Asia during the Oligocene. |
When discovered by an American Museum crew in Mongolia, all that remained of this Indricotherium was its four feet. |
Oligocene horses remained fairly small. For example, Mesohippus was only about 2 feet tall at the shoulders. |
