The Ordway-Swisher Biological Station

Ordway Lake The Ordway-Swisher Biological Station (formerly known as the Katharine Ordway Preserve & Carl Swisher Memorial Sanctuary) consists of approximately 9,000 acres located in western Putnam County, 26 miles east of Gainesville, Florida. It is a year-round biological field station established for the long-term study and conservation of unique ecosystems through management, research, and education. It is managed for the University of Florida by the UF/IFAS Department of Wildlife Ecology & Conservation.

The Florida Museum of Natural History is home to the Katharine Ordway Chair of Ecosystem Conservation, a position currently held by Dr. Scott Robinson.
