GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- The Florida Museum of Natural History will host a free public program titled "From Yeasts to Beasts: Explore Your Local Food Chains" from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on March 26.

"From Yeasts to Beasts" will explore local food chains from microbes to butterflies to humans. Museum visitors will have the opportunity to taste samples by chefs who use local produce, and discover how to think globally and eat locally through exhibits, demonstrations and activities on organic farming, composting, backyard habitats and conservation.

Join the Florida Museum and local exhibitors including Neighborhood Nutrition Network, Lubee Bat Conservancy, Alachua County 4-H, Hogtown Brewers, Bubba Kurtz Dairy and the Florida Native Flora Nursery as we explore yeasts, beasts and everything in between. Children also can enjoy gardening activities and take home a plant to feed the butterflies.

Museum visitors also may visit the "Microbes: Invisible Invaders...Amazing Allies" exhibition, on display through May 30, to learn more about how microbes use and affect food chains. The Microbes exhibit and public program are free. Normal admission charges to the Butterfly Rainforest of $7.50 for adults and $4.50 for children ages 3-12 apply.

For more information call (352) 846-2000, ext. 206.
