GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- The Florida Museum of Natural History will host adult quilting workshops and demonstrations beginning June 9 through Aug. 31. The workshops coincide with the museum's summer exhibition, "Quilting Natural Florida," which runs June 10 - Sept. 4 in collaboration with the Quilters of Alachua County Day Guild.
Friday, June 9, Michigan State University Assistant Curator Mary Worrall will lead a quilt documentation workshop from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Cost is $50 for museum members and $65 for non-members. Participants may bring a quilt for documentation or use one of the samples provided. Worrall also will share documentation techniques during the public opening of the Quilting Natural Florida exhibition June 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Florida quilter Pauline Salzman will present a Blue Ridge quilting workshop from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5. Cost is $50 for museum members and $65 for non-members, plus a $5 material fee. Participants will learn blind stitch applique on the sewing machine and must bring their own machine.
Through Aug. 31, area quilters will demonstrate various quilting techniques in the museum. Demonstrations will be held Tuesdays, Thursdays and the second and fourth Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Florida Museum of Natural History is Florida's state natural history museum, dedicated to understanding, preserving and interpreting biological diversity and cultural heritage.
