GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- The Florida Museum of Natural History is offering the day class "Predators of Sea," 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 26 for children in grades K-5. This date is a student holiday on the Alachua County Public Schools calendar.

Participants will discover some of the most fearsome marine predators and learn how these animals thrive in Earth's oldest habitat.

Cost for the day class is $72 for Florida Museum members and $86 for non-members. Pre-registration is required. Students should dress appropriately for outdoor activities and bring a sack lunch. For more information, visit www.flmnh.ufl.edu/education/childrens_classes.htm or call (352) 846-2000, ext. 277.

This class complements the Florida Museum's temporary exhibit "Megalodon: Largest Shark that Ever Lived," on display through Jan. 6, 2008. Visitors enter the exhibit through the jaws of a full-size 60-foot-long Megalodon sculpture and learn about this shark's life history and the world it inhabited. Megalodon lived worldwide before vanishing 2 million years ago. The exhibit showcases both fossil and modern shark specimens as well as full-scale models.
