Florida Museum to host 200 preschoolers during first "Pre-K Day" Feb. 12

Pre-kindergarten "Things with Wings" Day

When:
8:45 a.m. to noon, Feb. 12, 2008

Where:
Florida Museum of Natural History
UF Cultural Plaza
Powell Hall, SW 34th Street and Hull Road

Background:

The Florida Museum of Natural History will host about 200 4- and 5-year-olds during its first Pre-K "Things with Wings" Day from 8:45 a.m. to noon on Feb. 12. Children will learn about museum exhibits and "things with wings" through stories, crafts and hands-on activities.

Learning stations throughout the museum include a "things with wings" scavenger hunt, a "Winged Wonders" costume-metamorphosis activity, story corner, puppet show, "Discovery Carts" and a bat presentation.

Each child receives a Florida Museum Pre-K Day T-shirt, book and coupon for a free return visit with a paying adult admission to the Butterfly Rainforest. Community partners include WUFT, The Early Learning Coalition of Alachua County, UF's Baby Gator Child Development and Research Center, and the Alachua County Library District.
