GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Want to cash in on those great after-holiday deals? Shop the deals, run errands and take care of all the last-minute mayhem while your kids enjoy a day at the Florida Museum of Natural History in the Playful Escapes classes for grades K-5.
From 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Dec. 28, 29 and 30, kids can participate in themed crafts and activities that keep their minds moving during the winter break.
On Dec. 28, “Birds of Florida” will give students the opportunity to break out the binoculars and sneak a peek at the fascinating flight of Florida’s winter birds. “Paleontology” on Dec. 29 offers a closer look at the ancient mammoths and prehistoric beasts during this day of discovery. The “Mad Scientist” class Dec. 30 allows students to experiment with household products and find out what really goes on in the lab.
Students should dress for outdoor activities and bring a sack lunch. Pre-registration is required and parents are encouraged to register their children online, www.flmnh.ufl.edu/education/childrens_classes.htm. A half-day session is $25 for members, $30 for non-members. A full-day session is $45 for members, $50 for non-members.
