GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- When night descends on the Florida Museum of Natural History, where does Megalodon hunt? What makes a glyptodont sleepy? And what happens when museum visitors stay after hours?
Find out what lurks in the cave and what goes on in the Calusa hut when the lights go down at "Overnight at the Museum," a Florida Museum sleepover Saturday, Feb. 27 - Sunday, Feb. 28.
"Overnight at the Museum is an adventure-filled party that lets participants experience the Florida Museum in an extraordinary way," said education assistant Tiffany Ireland. "Because the inaugural sleepover last September was such a success, we wanted to be sure and offer this special opportunity to families again."
In addition to the museum's permanent exhibits, crafts and other activities, including a flashlight mystery hunt, are planned to spark the imaginations of museum explorers young and old.
The action-packed night also includes quiet time and a movie before lights out. Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothing and bring a sleeping bag or air mattress. A jacket or sweater is also recommended. Late-night snacks and a continental breakfast will be served.
"Overnight at the Museum" begins at 7 p.m. (check-in at 6:45 p.m.) and ends at 9 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 28. Admission is $50 for a museum member parent/child pair and $65 for a non-member parent/child pair. Additional guests are $20 each for members and $25 for non-members. There is a registration maximum of three children per adult.

The Florida Museum of Natural History is Florida's state natural history museum, dedicated to understanding, preserving and interpreting biological diversity and cultural heritage. It is located near the intersection of Southwest 34th Street and Hull Road in the University of Florida Cultural Plaza in Gainesville. Hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
