GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- Take an adventure into the past with the Florida Museum of Natural History during the next children's day camp from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Jan 20, a student holiday for Alachua County Public Schools.

To enroll in the camp, designed for students in grades K-5, visit http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/education/childrens_classes.htm or call 352-273-2061. Pre-registration is required.

History can be found everywhere, and during the "Archaeology Adventure" camp, students will visit local archaeological sites and meet researchers to learn about ancient cultures that helped shape the way we live today.

"We are really excited for this camp," said Florida Museum education assistant Amanda Erickson Harvey. "In the past we have looked at environmental sciences at the museum, but this day camp is a little different and gives students a chance to learn about local archaeology by examining artifacts and discussing cultural history."

The day camp includes a full-day trip for students and costs $77 for museum members and $86 for non-members. Students should dress appropriately for outdoor activities and cold weather and bring a sack lunch.
