June 15 - 19

Globetrotters, Europe (AM 1) [Section FULL: Grades 1/2]
Grades 1 - 6 | Trek across Europe, unearth ancient civilizations in French caves and climb across the Ural Mountains. From the exotic Mediterranean forests to the icy fjords the Vikings once braved, discover the rich and diverse European continent.

Coral Reefs (PM 1) [Section FULL: Grades 1/2, 3/4]
Grades 1 - 6 | Dive into another world. From clown fish and eels to sea stars and anemones, discover the mysteries of coral reefs. See how these slow-growing gardens are formed and what strange and beautiful animals call them home.


June 22 - 26

Appalachian Trail (AM 2) [Section FULL: Grades 3/4]
Grades 1 - 4 | Rediscover the first frontier! Extending from Maine to Georgia, these 250,000 acres have been home to birds, mammals and people for thousands of years. Come explore the world's oldest mountain range.

Something Slimy (PM 2) [Section FULL: All Grades]
Grades 1 - 4 | Why do amphibians feel "slimy?" Can a toad really give you warts? Are amphibians more like fish or reptiles? Explore the double-life of this mysterious group of animals.

Scientist for a Day (FC 1) [Section FULL: All Grades]
Grades 5 - 6 | If you're curious about what a geologist does or what a herpetologist studies, then sign up to become a scientist for a day. Discover the "-ologies" with scientists from UF and the Florida Museum. Travel into the field and be prepared for adventure during this full-day field camp.


July 13 - 17

Home, Home in the Ground (AM 3)
Grades 1 - 6 | There's a whole world beneath our feet! As protection against predators or shelter from the weather, burrows serve all kinds of creatures. Dig into the earth and discover animal homes underground.

Rainforest Romp (PM 3) [Section FULL: Grades 3/4]
Grades 1 - 6 | Have you ever seen a squirrel fly? How can a frog be deadly? Encounter these and other weirdly wonderful creatures and discover the diversity of life in the world's rainforests.

Canines, Weasels and Bears–Oh My! (AM 4) [Section FULL: Grades 3/4.]
Grades 1 - 4 | With matching ears and paws, teeth and claws, this group of animals is adapted for most any climate! Prowl for scraps with the arctic fox and slink through the prairies with the black-footed ferret. Discover how these diverse animals are related.

Jaws (PM 4) [Section FULL: Grades 3/4.]
Grades 1 - 4 | Discover the tales of teeth! See how scientists use teeth to investigate the secret lives of today's animals and those from thousands of years ago. Explore how teeth can reveal everything from what an animal eats to the climate in which it lives.

Field Camp 2: Junior Paleontologist (FC 2) [Section FULL.]
Grades 5 - 6 | Get your shovels, picks and brushes ready! We're about to uncover prehistoric creatures that once roamed Florida. Learn first-hand what it takes to be a paleontologist on a fossil dig. Come prepared for a field adventure during this full-day field camp.


July 27 - 31

Peoples of the Plains (AM 5)
Grades 1 - 6 | Enter a world where the buffalo is one of life's basic necessities, the shaman (medicine man) connects you to Nature's spirits, and your home territory spans miles. Discover the nomadic lifestyle of America's plains people and how the arrival of Europeans changed everything.

Butterflies (PM 5) [Section FULL: Grades 3/4, 5/6.]
Grades 1 - 6 | Explore the colorful world of butterflies at the Florida Museum – home to the one of the world's largest Lepidoptera collections! Learn about butterfly life cycles, their role as pollinators, how they see the world around them and how and why collections are made.


August 3 - 7

Great Migrations (AM 6) [Section FULL: Grades 3/4.]
Grades 1 - 4 | Sea turtles and cranes always find their way back to Florida. But where do they go for part of the year? Whether swimming, flying or walking, many animals migrate from one place to another. Come investigate where they go and why they take such long trips.

The Cleanup Crew (PM 6) [Section FULL: Grades 3/4.]
Grades 1 - 4 | Did you know nature cleans up after itself? Discover how one animal's death gives life to bacteria, fungi and meat-eaters large and small. Find out how even bare bones eventually become part of the earth.

Six Legs, More or Less (FC 3)
Grades 5 - 6 | Grab a magnifying glass and unearth the creatures lurking in the leaves. Travel into the field in search of insects and arachnids and experience first-hand what it takes to be an entomologist. Learn how to find these tiny creatures and discover the important roles they play. Come prepared for a field adventure during this full-day field camp.


August 10 - 14

Natural Disasters (AM 7) [Section FULL: Grades 1/2, 3/4.]
Grades 1 - 6 | Explore the wild side of the weather in tornadoes, tsunamis and hurricanes. Dig for the roots of world-shattering earthquakes and volcanoes. Look to the sky for those rare and mysterious meteor showers that might occasionally change the face of our entire planet. Are you ready to face Natural Disasters?

Crusty 'ole Crabs and Crew (PM 7) [Section FULL: Grades 3/4.]
Grades 1 - 6 | They may look like aliens from another world, but crustaceans are a huge part of the largest phylum on earth: Arthropoda. These multi-jointed animals battle predators, each other and loss of habitat. They don't taste too bad either!

How to Register

Registrations are accepted by mail, fax or online only. Classes will be filled in the order that forms are received. You will be notified if your first choice(s) are not available. Confirmation letters will be mailed two weeks from receipt of registration. Remember: Membership does NOT guarantee space in summer camps.

All Day camps registered online will be assessed the $10 discount at the time the registration is processed.
