Pottery Firing
3/20/2010
Location: 13810 Waterfront Drive, Pineland, Florida

The public is welcome to join Randell Research Center staff, volunteers, and students for a pottery-firing demonstration on March 20. The method used will be a pre-Columbian open-firing technique. Pottery to be fired on March 20 will have been made by participants of all ages and skill levels during the previous Saturday's Calusa Heritage Day on March 13. The pots will have been allowed to air-dry for a week. The firing on March 20 will begin about 9:00 AM and be completed by late afternoon. There is no charge for this event and all are welcome. Feel free to bring a lunch and a lawn chair and enjoy the day at the Randell Research Center and Calusa Heritage Trail at Pineland. Those who made a pot on March 13 are welcome to claim their fired pot on March 20, or any time up to one month thereafter at the classroom, Randell Research Center.
