FLMNH Genetic Resources Repository
The GRR database holds information linking genetic samples and preparations to a source voucher specimen and any other important information relevant to the potential value of the sample for research (such as the sample and history of use). In addition, identification and locality information associated with unvouchered materials are also maintained in GRR managed databases.
To maximize the flexibility and accesibility of the GRR database is being developed using the following specifications: PostgreSQL database management system with client applications written in PHP for web-based database management and searching. The following is the schema of the database that we had developed.
The following diagram illustrates the relationship between different components of the FLMNH electronic catalogs and the GRR database. The database schema that is implemented provides the best combination of functionality and efficiency.
