Research Expedition to French Guiana
October 18 - 31, 2008
Cost: $2,789 per person (from Cayenne, French Guiana)
Led by Dr. Thomas C. Emmel, Director of the McGuire Center for Lepidoptera and Biodiversity
Activity: Can range from easy to strenuous, depending on research goals
Accommodations: Primitive and remote lodges; locations chosen for Lepidoptera research primarily
We have designed this trip to meet the needs of researchers by limiting the number of transfers from lodge to lodge, while maintaining our commitment to the study of biodiversity by sampling new areas. We will be focusing on two areas during this trip. We will be staying at the forest lodge of Saut Anathanse and then Camp Patawa, where the spirit of adventure and wonderful French cuisine will accompany the rustic conditions, while also providing many opportunities to study and photograph rare and beautiful insects right outside your front door!
