The Tapir Challenge for Fall 2007 has finished. Field work at the site will resume on January 12, 2008.

Over 100 volunteers answered the call of the challenge from October 23 to December 20, 2007. We recovered 65 skeletons of tapirs, sloths, giant armadillos, turtles, alligators, snakes and more. Much of this productivity is due to our volunteers, who contributed almost 1,000 hours of work at the site.

If you are interested in volunteering with us in the winter of 2008, check this web site.

We especially want to thank those volunteers who helped make the dig so successful. Our top volunteers, as measured in number of hours worked at the site were:

Robert Tarnuzzer

Suzanne Conner

John Helling

Bill Keeler

Jaime Miller

Dennis Appleby

Joyce Goss

John Martin

David Pharr

Lorraine McDowell

All of them worked more than 20 hours at the site.

See you in 2008!
