Volunteering - Butterfly Rainforest
Horticulture Volunteers
Work with our horticulture staff in keeping our Butterfly Rainforest beautiful year-round. These volunteers will work with the horticulture staff on various aspects of gardening, including planting, watering and weeding. Three-hour shifts are available every day of the week, with the majority of work happening between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 am Monday through Saturday and from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Vivarium (Butterfly Rainforest) Interpreter
Work with Education and Butterfly Rainforest staff to interpret the flora and fauna in the vivarium and encourage our visitors to learn more about butterflies, biodiversity and conservation efforts. Enjoy the tropical environment while engaging our visitors and answering their questions. Discovery carts with live specimens and hands-on activities are also used to actively involve our visitors in the learning process. Help us to provide a safe and rewarding experience for our guests as they enjoy the sights and sounds of the Butterfly Rainforest. Two-hour shifts are available Monday through Sunday during Museum operating hours.
Lepidoptera Collections Volunteers
Work with our Research and Collections staff on the daily care and maintenance of our growing Lepidoptera collection. Volunteers will work behind the scenes helping staff to label and mount specimens, keep records, and curate the collection. Shifts are available Monday through Friday during Museum operating hours.
