The Florida Museum of Natural History is pleased
to announce that the new exhibit, The Hall of Florida Fossils: Evolution
of Life and Land is now open! Drawing upon the museum's internationally
acclaimed fossil collections, the exhibit will encapsulate the last
65 million years of Earth's history (since the extinction of the dinosaurs),
using the Florida Platform as the stage on which this fascinating story is told.
Over 90 percent of the exhibit's 500 fossils are real, and many were found
within 100 miles of Gainesville.
Cyberspace visitors are welcome to share in our new exhibit hall.
This site includes current research and historical overviews of Florida Paleontology
and Florida Geology and new postings in our Digital Library, an
increasing compilation of information on the living and extinct fauna
and flora of Florida. Images of the Hall of Florida Fossils are posted
on the Design page, as well as additional information on the Fossil
Hall team. Our Funding Opportunities page provides information to
those visitors interested in making a donation towards this major exhibit.
NEW! Renowned paleo-artist Charles R. Knight paintings go on display April 21, 2007
