Volunteering in the Field

temporary banner logo

The Division of Vertebrate Paleontology has one or more fossil collecting session per year that uses volunteer assistance. This will generally be during the drier and cooler times of the year, either spring or fall. Age limits and physical requirements will vary depending on the conditions at the particular fossil site we are working.

Our short winter dig in 2013 will be at the Pleistocene Millennium Park Site in Pinnellas County. It will be held on January 12-14 and 18-21, 2013. Download information and an application form here.

A summary of field volunteer effort at the Tapir Challenge, which ran from 2005 to 2008, can be found here.
